If you’re picturing Pre-K as daycare with a little structure thrown in, or as worksheets and circle time with three-year-olds slumped in chairs, you’ve got the wrong picture.
Pre-K at Academy Del Sol is a real educational program. Designed for our youngest learners. Affordable for Tucson families. And built around the same fine arts integration and personal attention that defines our K-8 program.
Here’s what affordable Pre-K in Tucson actually looks like.
A morning at Pre-K
Children arrive at our Roger Road campus, the home of the Roadrunners, in Central Tucson. They hang up their backpacks, find their cubbies, and join their teacher for morning circle.
Circle time isn’t filler. It’s where kids learn the rhythm of school: how to listen, how to take turns, how to ask a question, how to be part of a group. Songs in English and Spanish set the tone. Today’s theme might be weather, or animals, or feelings. Whatever it is, it’ll come back later through a story, an art project, or a movement game.
Then small group rotations begin. Some kids work on letter sounds with a teacher. Others build with blocks while practicing counting. A few are at the art table, painting something inspired by a book they read yesterday.
Outdoor time. Snack. Read-aloud. More small group. Music or movement. Lunch.
Every part of the day is intentional. None of it is meant to look like first grade. Three- and four-year-olds learn through play, exploration, and connection. Our job is to make sure every minute supports that.
What children experience in Pre-K
The Pre-K curriculum at ADS focuses on six areas.
Early literacy: daily read-alouds, letter sounds, vocabulary, and the joy of stories. The foundation for strong readers starts here.
Early math: counting, patterns, shapes, sorting, and number sense through hands-on play.
Fine arts: music, movement, and visual art every day. This is the ADS signature, drawn from our fine arts program and woven into Pre-K from the start.
Social-emotional development: sharing, taking turns, managing feelings, building friendships. The skills that matter for the rest of school and life.
Bilingual environment: a classroom where Spanish and English are both welcome. Families who speak Spanish at home feel at home here.
Kindergarten readiness: by the time your child moves up, they’re ready academically, socially, and emotionally for the next step.
Why Tucson families choose affordable Pre-K at ADS
Three reasons families tell us they enroll.
Affordable. ADS Pre-K is priced to be accessible to Tucson families without sacrificing curriculum quality or care.
Bilingual community. Spanish-speaking families belong here. Our staff and curriculum reflect the community we serve in Central Tucson.
Bridge to K-8. ADS Pre-K students transition right into our tuition-free K-8 program at Roger Road. Same campus. Same community. Same teachers your child will see at recess.
That continuity matters. Children don’t have to start over every year with a new school. They build relationships at age three that carry through eighth grade.
Part-day or full-day options
We offer flexible scheduling so families can choose what fits.
Part-day is designed for families who want to ease their child into school routine, or who don’t need full-day care. Children get a focused, age-appropriate Pre-K experience in a shorter day.
Full-day aligns with the K-8 schedule at Roger Road. It’s the right choice for working families who need consistent care alongside meaningful early learning.
